Our Stories In Vivid Color
is a multimedia initiative to amplify the lived experiences and dreams of Black, Indigenous and People of Color (BIPOC) women, girls and gender non-conforming youth, ages 14-24, across the United States and Puerto Rico. It features a short-form documentary film series, user-generated story archive, dynamic grassroots and media partnerships, and an incubator for young creatives – through which we are supporting writers, podcasters, video producers and other content creators to develop and scale their own initiatives.

Girls and gender non-conforming (GNC) youth are cultural influencers and leaders, reshaping our world with their passion, ingenuity, activism, and joy. Yet they are chronically mis- and underrepresented in mainstream media. It’s time to change that — to represent them in the fullness of their humanity, and shine a light on the creative, inspiring ways they are challenging systemic injustices and building a more liberated future, for themselves and their communities. With Our Stories, we have created a platform for girls and gender non-conforming youth of color to share their own stories, on their own terms.

But we’re not doing it alone. We’re working in partnership with over 70 organizations and media makers across the U.S. and Puerto Rico. Together, we are infusing media and pop culture with authentic, nuanced representations, while building a powerful intersectional movement of artists, activists and organizers working in solidarity to create a more equitable and inclusive world.
